Dr. Tim J. Watt is a neurosurgeon at The Spine Center. A native of Wichita, Kansas, Dr. Watt did his undergraduate work at Wichita State University graduating magna cum laude. He then attended the University of Kansas School of Medicine where he was in the combined M.D./Ph.D. program. Upon completing his degree, Dr. Watt did a general surgery internship and residency in neurosurgery at the State University of New York in Syracuse. During that time, Dr. Watt was named the Perkins Neuroscience Scholar for his research on the treatment of brain tumors. He also received additional training in orthopedic treatment of spinal disorders and participated in the development of new types of spinal instrumentation. During his residency, Dr. Watt served as the Chief of Surgery for the Army Reserve's 357th Combat Support Hospital.

After his training, Dr. Watt went on active duty with the army. Major Watt spent three years as Assistant Chief of Neurosurgery and Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu.

After his army obligations, Dr. Watt moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. While in private practice there, he also served as a clinical assistant professor for the University of Nebraska School of Medicine. Dr. Watt was Chief of Neurosurgery at all three Lincoln hospitals during his seven years there. He also was the Medical Director for the Nebraska Gamma Knife Center and served on the faculty for the Union College P.A. program and the Lincoln Family Practice Residency Program.

Dr. Watt is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, the Joint Section on Spine and local and state medical associations. The Consumers Research Council named Dr. Watt as one of "America's Top Surgeons" in neurosurgery for their 2002-2003 Guide to America's Top Surgeons.

Dr. Watt is an avid downhill skier and is a certified rescue scuba diver. Dr. Watt practices Okinawan karate and enjoys target shooting.
