Dr. Stuart G. Rice is a neurosurgeon at The Spine Center in Rapid City, South Dakota. He was born in Seattle, was raised in Minnesota and graduated from Edina-West High School. He graduated from The University of North Dakota with a B.S. in Biology. He did graduate work in human genetics before receiving his M.D. from the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Rice completed his internship in General Surgery and his Neurosurgery residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Rice has advanced training and specialization in spine surgery and is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Rice is an Assistant Clinical Professor in Surgery at the University of South Dakota and a frequent lecturer on the management of spine trauma and spinal disorders. Dr. Rice is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, The Congress of Neurological Surgeons, The North American Spine Society, The American Medical Association and a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons. He has been included multiple times in "Best Doctors in America," including most recently for 2007-2008. Dr. Rice's hobbies include writing fiction and has published one novel, a medical mystery entitled "Fragile X".
