Edward L. Seljeskog, M.D.

Dr. Seljeskog is a neurosurgeon at Black Hills Neurosurgery & Spine. He received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1971. Dr. Seljeskog completed his general surgery training at the Minneapolis General Hospital and his neurological training at the University of Minnesota Hospital. Some of his staff positions include: attending neurosurgeon at Rapid City Regional Hospital and the Minneapolis Veterans Administration Hospital, Head of the Division of Neurosurgery at Hennepin County General Hospital and a clinical professor in the department of neurosurgery at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Seljeskog is licensed in South Dakota and certified by the ABMS specialty board as a neurological surgeon. He is a member of several organizations including the American Medical Association, the South Dakota the State Medical Association, the American Association of Neurological Surgery and the Neurosurgical Society of America. Dr. Seljeskog has served on the board of several societies. He was also President of the Minnesota Neurosurgical Society, a neurosurgical representative for the Minnesota State Medical Association, and President of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (Cushing Society).

Dr. Seljeskog has been a professor at several universities including the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, the University of Maryland in Baltimore, and the Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Seljeskog is widely published. Some of his articles have appeared in The Journal of the American Medical Association, Minnesota Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, and Neurosurgery. He is currently developing an article about thoracic disc herniation.

Dr. Seljeskog's military activities include an active duty tour during Operation Desert Storm. He was a captain in the Medical Corps, USNR and a USN Medical School Liaison Officer.

Dr. Seljeskog lives in Rapid City with his wife, Margaret, and has five children; Vanessa, Steven, Eric, Sarah and Christopher.
