High school volleyball player GETS BACK ON COURT after a painful spinal fracture

As an active high school basketball and volleyball player, Megan's back pain symptoms would come and go. She and her parents assumed it was the strain of high school sports. But when the back pain worsened to the point that she couldn't bend over to pick clothes up off the floor, her parents knew something was wrong.

"At first I didn't think it was anything serious," says Megan. "I just thought I had strained my back while diving for the ball on the volleyball court. Then the back pain worsened to the point I couldn't even bend over the sink to wash my face in the mornings." Volleyball was out of the question, and she had to drop off the team. Megan and her parents decided it was finally time to see a doctor. But two months of physical therapy only caused her particular symptoms to worsen. At 32 years old, Diane felt 82. Her quality of life was going rapidly downhill, and she finally decided it was time to take action. Diane felt that her back problem related to a car accident 10 years ago. Random episodes of pain were controlled by visits to a chiropractor, but eventually symptoms of degenerative disc disease worsened.

Diane was now in extreme pain daily. "I had ongoing muscle spasms, pain shooting down my legs, leg cramps and difficulty sleeping," she remembers. Diane had a woodcraft business and was accustomed to building and designing crafts using large sheets of wood.
